In October of 2001, my sister started getting very sick. She had stomach spasms and she was having a hard time getting around. Walking was a major chore. It took everything she had just to get out of bed; she was in so much pain. By March 2002, she had undergone several tissue and muscle biopsies and was on 24 various prescription medications. The doctors could not determine what was wrong with her. She was in so much pain, and so sick she just knew she was dying. She put her house, bank accounts, life insurance, etc., in her eldest daughter's name, and made sure that her younger children were to be taken care of. She also wanted her last hooray, so she planned a trip to Florida (basically in a wheelchair) for March 22nd.

General Elections 2014 in India:

General election for parliament (Loksabha) and some of the state Legislative Assemblies are due during the year 2014. Present analyses indicate that no single party can gain even simple majority in the house. Hence, government would be formed after some of the parties combine together for the purpose of proving majority for forming government. These parties may claim that they would be working based on a common minimum programme acceptable to all parties. However, in practice the picture is different. Each and every party is interested in implementing individual party programme. The only common programme implemented is grabbing every opportunity for improving self state of every member of the house, both ruling and in opposition. There is a need to deal with such a possibility. Amalgamation of parties is no solution. In my opinion the concept of ruling party and opposition party must change. When every member of the house wants (at least theoretically) improvement in the condition of a common man why there should be a party in opposition. All members must be considered on the same side of the fence. If this concept is accepted then a solution is available for suchresults of election(s).

As per the agreed process of dividing India in to 2 independent sovereign states that is India and Pakistan. It was left to the rulers of princely states to join either India or Pakistan. People of Kashmir had approached the ruler during 19^th century for conversion of all citizens from Islam to Hindu. This had been a tradition in Kashmir since ages. Religion of the people always had been same as the rulers. When rulers changed the entire population in Kashmir changed their religion. In known history the entire population changed religion from Hindu to Buddha, from Buddha to Islam, Islam to Buddha, and lastly from Buddha to Islam. Therefore truly speaking Kashmiris have same religion as the rulers. Pakistan used unfair means to capture Kashmir by sending troops in the disguise of tribal. Maharaja Hari Singh, then ruler of Kashmir, requested Government of India to protect the state from invaders. He used option available to him to merge his state with India. Government of India provided necessary help and pushed back Pakistan army. Due to pressure from world leaders India stopped the operation before every Pakistani soldier was pushed out of Kashmir. This resulted in a small portion of Kashmir under occupation of Pakistan. The border between Pakistan occupied Kashmir and Jammu & Kashmir state of India is known as Line of Control (LOC in short). Answer to this question is big “NO” However, he has many times put it straight that he faced troubles because of  Khan connected to his name. He did undergo check at an airport in USA when he went to America 2 years back (2010). Since this incidence, he is bit worried about how people would accept him. This doesn’t mean that he feels unsafe for life. He is a great actor. His career is in full swing. If people reject him because he is Khan then his career as an actor would come to an end. Hence the feeling of “unsafe” is not on account of life but career. There is one more aspect. He being a celebrity and people do listen to celebrity, media persons ask his opinion about extremists attacks in India. Were he a Hindu, probably, media would not have asked this question. In a general sense it is incorrect to ask such a  question just because he is a Muslim.

Facility of storing money in small size (high denomination notes) makes it easy for corrupt people to store their wealth acquired from unethical means. Expenditure on election campaign by the candidates is another reason for corruption. A solution is needed for these 2 issues. Prior preparations are must to resolve these issues. I would take high denomination solution first.

This is possible if either existing parties change their aim, administration and working or a new party is constituted. My thinking of an ideal political party is given in following paragraphs.

सकाळसमूहाने एक चांगला उपक्रम हाती घेतला आहे. सध्या पुण्यात लोकल ट्रेनची काही ठिकाणची व मर्यादीत वेळेतील सेवा सोडली तर रस्त्यावरील वाहतुकीला पर्याय नाही. सार्वजनिक वाहतुक सक्षम नसल्यामुळे नागरिकांचा स्वतःच्या वाहनावरच विश्वास आहे. सकाळ समूहातर्फे एक दमदार पाऊल उचलले जात आहे ते सार्वजनिक वाहतुक व्यवस्था सक्षम करण्याचे तसेच लोकांचा विश्वास निर्माण करण्याचे. बसस्थांब्यापासून घरी व कार्यालयात जाण्याकरिता ऑटो रिक्षा चालकांनी कंबर कसली आहे. त्याला नागरिक व निरनिराळ्या संस्था तसेच गट, एकजुटीने सहाय्य करत आहेत व सक्रिय सहभाग नोंदवत आहेत.  जर 1 नोव्हेंबर 2012 चा प्रयोग यशस्वी झाला तर तो प्रयोग रोज राबविण्याकरिता दरवाजे उघडले जातील. नागरिक जर सार्वजनिक वाहुतक व्यवस्था वापरू लागले तर खाजगी वाहने रस्त्यावर उतरणार नाहित व रस्त्यावरील कोंडी पूर्णपणे संपली नाही  तर निदान कमी होईल. सध्याचे रस्ते पुरेसे वाटू लागतील.

आंतर राष्ट्रीय तसेंच ज्ञान भाषा म्हणून इंग्रजीचे महत्त्व वाढत आहे. मराठी शाळेत पहिली पासून इंग्रजी शिकवण्यास सुरवात झाली आहे. उत्तर भारतीयांचे लोंढे फक्त मुंबईतच नाही तर महाराष्ट्रातील छोट्या मोठ्या सर्वच शहरात येत आहेत. अशा परिfस्थतीत मराठी भाषा टिकेल काय? माझ्या मते आपणाला मराठीचा अभिमान असेल तर मराठी अवश्य टिकू शकते. इंग्रजी सर्व जगाने स्वीकारली तरी. अगदी महाराष्ट्रात उत्तर भारतीयांची सख्या दहापट झाली तरी. त्या करता इतिहासात डोकाऊन पाहण्याची व त्या पासून शिकून पावले उचलण्याची आवश्यकता आहे.

Government of India recently decided to raise price of Diesel by Rs. 5.00 per litre, placed restriction of 6 LPG cylinders for a family per annum at subsidised rates, and allowed FDI in retail area. All these decisions raised eyebrows in political field and citizens' groups. However, there is no increase price of kerosene. This has been welcomed by all. Restriction of 6 number of LPG cylinders may be increased to 9 by state government after bearing subsidy on additional cylinders. Central government has brought taxes on additional cylinders (more than 6 or 9, depending on the subsidy given by state government) to zero giving relief of approximately Rs. 97.00. However, this had been given to all LPG cylinders for domestic use. Dr. Man Mohan Singh, prime minister of India informed citizens the decision is harsh but there is no alternative solution under present circumstances. In general the decision is termed as bold but harmful to citizens because of expected price rise.

Annaji takes a decision

After failure of protest against not adapting JanLokpal bill by the parliament (India) some colleagues of Honourable Shri Anna Hazare declared to establish a politicalparty. Many have criticised this decision and many have ridiculed it. Indian National Congress, major partner in ruling UPA government commented that that "This had been hidden agenda of Anna Hazare. We knew he wants to join politics and we welcome him" This appears to be a straight comment. However, members of Congress have ridiculed the statement saying "How can he contest elections without money", "How can Anna get elected?", "We shall see that not a single candidate would win election", "This shall show his proper place" These comments were unwarranted. If Anna decides to follow democratic way to fight against corruption, he should have been encouraged.

पीएमआरडीईचे क्षेत्र वाढविणे आवश्यक!

श्री. रामचंद्र गोहाड, माजी संचालक, नगररचना विभाग, पुणे यानी वर्तमानपत्रात लेख लिहून पुण्याच्या विकासाबाबत 1952 पासूनपासून आजपर्यंत शासनाने काय काय केले व आता काय केले पाहिजे हे स्पष्ट केले आहे (पहा दै. सकाळ, प्रॉपर्टी पृष्ठ 4, 4 ऑगष्ट 2012). शासनाने वेळोवेळी बदल केले. परंतु सर्व बदल शासनाच्या नियमात बसणारेच. त्या मध्ये कोठलाही नवीन बदल केला नाही. मला एक गोष्ट आठवते.
